8 miles of meditation got me thinking…
“i run because sam jumps in circles with excitement when i put on my sneakers. because it keeps me in 32 waist jeans. because it helps me not gas out at jiu-jitsu. because its one of the few times i can enjoy my music and truly listen to it. because my running shoes fit in my backpack and can go wherever i do. because everyday an extra half mile gets that much easier…
but most importantly i run because it feels good. it is my therapy. my afternoon at church. my hour on a shrink’s couch. my conference call with myself. my excuse to enjoy the world around me (wherever i may be), and a few moments to be able to hear my own thoughts with some clarity and peace.
it is the part of my day when nothing matters except my breathing.
